What is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 from InMode is a fractional radiofrequency treatment for the skin which stimulates collagen in the underlying layers of the skin. You can learn more about how to tighten sagging skin here.

The tissue of the face and body can be remodelled to create a more radiant, tighter and youthful appearance by targeting the deeper layers of the skin (dermis).

The device has been FDA cleared as a treatment to improve skin tone, texture, reduction of fine line and wrinkles, and to tighten areas of skin laxity on the face & body.

What do patients love?

Patients love the limited downtime, the quick treatment time and a fresher more youthful appearance which can last upto 18 months. With Morpheus8 it is possible to treat all skin types making it suitable for anyone with ageing concerns.

Who is the treatment for?

This is a treatment which doesn’t discriminate. With the advanced technology and unique properties of the device it allows all skin types to be treated. Even sensitive and acne prone skin types can benefit from having the treatment.

What is the treatment like?

Morpheus8 is an highly effective skin tightening treatment but does come with a ‘no pain no gain’ warning. While the treatment is offered at many types of clinics only those overseen by a doctor can offer the treatment with enough power to have a noticeable effect on the skin.

In order to achieve the best possible outcome we recommend patients follow our strict pain management protocol to ensure the treatment is as comfortable as possible but also is as effective as possible.

Why choose Berkshire Aesthetics?

Morpheus8 is growing in popularity but the effectiveness of the treatment comes down to a few simple factors:

1. Experience – we have completed 100s of Morpheus8 treatments and offer not only Morpheus8 for the face but we were the first clinic in the UK to offer Morpheus8 Body which is a doctor only treatment as it penetrates to 8mm.

2. Pain management – the treatment is highly customisable and to get the best possible results the power settings must be maximised. Pain management is key to achieving the best outcomes. At Berkshire Aesthetics we use a prescription-only oral and topical anesthetic and also offer our patients an injected local anesthetic, as well as gas & air, if necessary. N.B. this level of pain management is not available at a non-medical clinic.

3. Recognition – Dr Langdon has been recognised in the media for her expertise with the treatment. She was listed as the ‘name to know’ in Elle’s Glow-Cedures feature.

Frequently Asked Questions

Morpheus8 is commonly used for skin tightening on the face and neck. It can also be used to treat different types of skin conditions including: acne scars, sagging jowls, fine lines and wrinkles and drooping skin around the eye area. Other areas also include areas of the body such as arms, abdomen, knees, thighs and chest where the device can treat loose skin post pregnancy or weight loss or aging skin due to collagen loss and sun damage.

The Morpheus8 handpiece uses fractionated radiofrequency to deliver energy to the subdermal tissues. The device uses adjustable penetration depths and energy for the treatment of skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, scars and skin tone. The energy is delivered through bipolar arrays of 24 coated needles which penetrate into the subdermal tissue, this results in localised heating, contraction and coagulation of the fat and connective tissue to tighten and rejuvenate the treated area.

The advanced technology and unique properties of the Morpheus8 device allows all skin types to be treated. Even sensitive and acne prone skin types can benefit from having the treatment.

– The duration of treatment varies as it depends on the area treated. An hour prior to treatment a topical anaesthetic will be applied to the skin. Typically, a treatment on the face will take approximately 20 minutes and up to one hour on body areas.

Prior to the treatment a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to the treated area to improve the patients comfort. Patients typically experience a mild heat sensation on the surface of the skin and a ‘pin prick’ sensation.

Upon consultation, your practitioner will recommend the optimal amount of sessions based on the individual needs. Usually the recommend amount of sessions varies between 2-3 treatments, however in some cases even after a single session results may be visible. Treatment intervals and duration will be specifically tailored to the individual and the area treated in order to obtain best results.

Prior to treatment, patients are advised to avoid excessive sun exposure at least 4 weeks prior to treatment. Patients are advised to avoid deep depth chemical peels and laser resurfacing 4-6 weeks prior to treatment. Superficial/medium depth peels should be completed 2 weeks prior to Morpheus8.

Patients prone to hyperpigmentation should commence with a course of Hydroquinone and retinol skincare to reduce risks of pigmentation changes at least 6 weeks prior to treatment.

Patients are advised to follow a skincare routine recommended by their practitioner to achieve best treatment results.

Morpheus8 is a very safe and effective treatment. It is safe to treat on all skin types including sensitive skin. An hour prior to the treatment, a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area to ensure that you are comfortable during the treatment.

Minimal downtime is present after the treatment. You will experience a sunburn type redness and mild swelling in the days following treatment. Dry skin and flaking may be noticed which may also be followed by tiny scabs in the areas treated, but this will subside. Your practitioner will recommend an after care skin routine to help with any downtime but will of course vary from patient to patient.

Side effects are very rare; however patients must understand the importance of pre and post procedure instructions in order to reduce the risk of any complications occurring. After your treatment, the therapist will provide you with an after care leaflet for you to take home and skincare recommendations to follow whilst the skin is healing. Additionally a follow up call and appointment to the clinic will be arranged to assess the skin post treatment.
Possible (although extremely rare) adverse effects include:
– Discomfort (itching, tender skin)
– Excessive redness and swelling (edema)
– Change of pigmentation (hyper- and hypopigmentation)
– Scarring

Visible results can be seen as soon as 2 weeks after you first treatment, but typically after 4-6 weeks the noticeable results will begin to appear but the full results of your Morpheus8 treatment will not be seen before six months.

Patients are advised to keep their skin free of makeup for at least 24hrs. The skin should be cleansed using a gentle cleanser recommended by your practitioner and regularly moisturised as skin may feel dry and tight for the first few days post treatment. Additionally patients should avoid sun exposure and use a broad spectrum sunscreen every day.
