CoolSculpting for Stomach & Abdominal Fat
How CoolSculpting — the fat freezing treatment for stubborn stomach and abdominal fat — works: how many cycles you are likely to need, what it costs, and the results you can realistically expect.
At Berkshire Aesthetics in Maidenhead, CoolSculpting is performed under the clinical supervision of Dr Selena Langdon, a CoolSculpting Complications Expert. See our body contouring overview for all treatment options.

How CoolSculpting works on the stomach
CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling (cryolipolysis) to target the subcutaneous fat layer of the abdomen — the pinchable fat just beneath the skin. The applicator lowers the fat to a precise temperature that triggers apoptosis (natural cell death) while leaving the skin, nerves and muscle unharmed. Over the following weeks the body clears the treated fat cells, which do not return; results depend on a stable weight and vary by individual.
The stomach is the single most commonly treated CoolSculpting area. It is well-suited to patients who are close to their target weight but have a stubborn lower- or upper-abdominal fat pocket that resists diet and exercise. It is important to be clear: CoolSculpting treats subcutaneous fat, not the deeper visceral fat around the organs, and it is not a weight-loss treatment.
How much does CoolSculpting for the stomach cost?
CoolSculpting is priced per applicator cycle, not per session. At Berkshire Aesthetics, cycles start from £245. The stomach usually needs 4–6 cycles to cover the upper and lower abdomen, so a typical first-round plan ranges from roughly £980 to £1,470. Where the fat layer is thicker, or a second round is advised 8–12 weeks later for a further reduction, the total can be higher.
| Stomach plan | Typical cycles | Indicative cost |
|---|---|---|
| Lower abdomen only | 2–4 cycles | From £490 |
| Upper + lower abdomen | 4–6 cycles | £980–£1,470 |
| Abdomen + flanks combined | 6–8 cycles | £1,470–£1,960 |
These are indicative ranges based on cycles from £245; your exact number of cycles is set during a hands-on assessment. For a full breakdown of how per-cycle pricing works, see our CoolSculpting cost guide or current treatment prices.
Results timeline
CoolSculpting results develop gradually. Every patient responds slightly differently, but the following reflects the typical pattern after treating the stomach.
Your cycles
Each applicator cycle takes 35–45 minutes. The abdomen is mapped into zones, and the applicator draws the fat into a cup and cools it. You feel intense cold and suction for the first few minutes, then numbness for the rest of the cycle. Most patients read or work on a laptop and drive home afterwards.
Settling in
Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness and numbness across the treated area are common and usually settle within one to three weeks. The numbness can persist a little longer in some patients but resolves on its own.
First visible change
The body clears the treated fat cells through the lymphatic system. Most patients begin to notice a flatter, more refined stomach contour from around four to six weeks.
Final result
The full effect of each cycle develops by two to four months. Because the cleared fat cells do not return, the result is long-lasting provided your weight stays stable. A second round may be advised at this point for a further reduction.
CoolSculpting or Emsculpt Neo for the stomach?
The stomach can be treated by more than one technology, and the right choice depends on whether your concern is fat, muscle tone, or both. CoolSculpting reduces a stubborn fat layer. Emsculpt Neo builds abdominal muscle while reducing a smaller fat layer, which suits patients who also want firmer core definition — for example after pregnancy. Exilis addresses mild skin laxity on the lower abdomen.
Many patients get the most complete result from a combination — CoolSculpting first for the fat layer, then Emsculpt Neo to strengthen the muscle underneath. Our CoolSculpting vs Emsculpt Neo comparison sets out the differences in detail, and your consultation confirms the best approach for your anatomy and goals.
