Why we start with a consultation

Every treatment begins with a medical assessment. We need to understand your medical history, current health, skin condition and concerns before prescribing any procedure. This protects your safety and ensures the treatment is clinically appropriate for you.

During your consultation, Dr Langdon will explain what the treatment can realistically achieve, any risks specific to you, and whether an alternative might be more appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions: CO2 Laser Resurfacing

CO2 laser resurfacing uses a carbon dioxide laser to precisely remove thin layers of damaged skin. This stimulates new collagen and elastin production, generating healthier, smoother skin. At Berkshire Aesthetics, we use the Alma Hybrid platform which combines ablative CO2 and non-ablative wavelengths for effective results with a manageable recovery.
CO2 laser is effective for acne scars (ice pick, boxcar and rolling), sun damage and pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, uneven texture and enlarged pores. Your doctor will assess whether CO2 laser is the most appropriate treatment for your specific concerns.
The Alma Hybrid combines two wavelengths: ablative CO2 (10,600nm) for surface resurfacing and non-ablative 1570nm for deeper collagen stimulation. This dual-wavelength approach achieves significant results with faster recovery compared to traditional fully ablative CO2 lasers.
CO2 laser can be used on a range of skin types, but darker skin tones carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Your doctor will assess your Fitzpatrick skin type and medical history to determine suitability and may adjust treatment parameters or recommend alternatives.
Most patients need 7 to 10 days of social downtime. Redness, swelling and crusting are expected in the first week. Residual pinkness may persist for 2 to 6 weeks but is easily concealed with mineral makeup. Full details are available on our recovery and downtime page.
Most patients achieve significant improvement with 1 to 3 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on the condition being treated, its severity and your individual healing response. Your doctor will advise at consultation.
Treatment costs depend on the area treated and number of sessions recommended. We provide transparent, upfront pricing at your consultation. Visit our prices page or contact us for current fees. A consultation fee applies and is credited toward treatment if you proceed within 28 days.
CO2 laser delivers more dramatic results than microneedling or chemical peels but requires longer recovery. Morpheus8 RF microneedling offers effective tightening with less downtime. Your doctor will recommend the most appropriate option based on your concerns, downtime tolerance and skin type.
