How long does microneedling redness last?
Redness after SkinPen microneedling commonly lasts 24 to 72 hours, although sensitivity, dryness or light flaking may continue for several days. Deeper treatment or RF microneedling such as Morpheus8 can take longer to settle. If redness worsens after the first few days, becomes hot or painful, or is associated with discharge or feeling unwell, contact your clinic for advice.

Risks and limitations
- Temporary redness, warmth, swelling, dryness and flaking are common.
- Infection, post-inflammatory pigmentation or prolonged irritation are uncommon but possible.
- Restarting actives or sun exposure too early can irritate healing skin.

Can I wear makeup while my skin is red?
Most patients are advised to avoid makeup for at least 24 hours after microneedling. Mineral makeup or tinted SPF may be introduced later if the skin is settling and your clinician agrees.
When can I restart retinol after microneedling?
Retinoids, acids and strong vitamin C products are usually avoided for several days and reintroduced gradually once the skin has settled, often from around day seven.
