Berkshire Aesthetics is a doctor-led, CQC-registered aesthetic clinic in Maidenhead. All treatments begin with a consultation to assess suitability, medical history, risks and realistic outcomes.
Skin boosters vs fillers
Skin boosters are generally used for skin quality, hydration and texture. Dermal fillers are used for selected structural volume, contour or support. They are not interchangeable, and filler has specific risks that must be discussed before treatment.
Book a consultation| Consideration | Skin boosters | Dermal fillers |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Hydration, crepiness, glow and skin quality | Volume loss, contour and selected facial support |
| Not suitable for | Significant volume loss or contour change | Patients mainly needing skin hydration or texture improvement |
| Downtime | Usually mild injection-site swelling or bruising | Bruising and swelling can be more noticeable depending on area |
| Sessions | Often a course or maintenance plan | Often one treatment with review, depending on plan |
| Cost considerations | Course cost matters as much as single-session price | Cost depends on product, amount and complexity |
When we might recommend neither treatment
- Your medical history or current skin condition makes treatment unsafe.
- Your goals would be better served by delaying treatment, using skincare first, or seeking medical diagnosis.
- The expected improvement is unlikely to justify the risk, downtime or cost.
What to ask at consultation
- Which concern are we treating: skin quality, volume, laxity, texture or muscle activity?
- What are the realistic benefits and limitations for my anatomy or skin type?
- What are the main risks, downtime and aftercare requirements?
- How many sessions might be needed and when would we review progress?
