Berkshire Aesthetics is a CQC-registered medical aesthetic clinic in Maidenhead. All treatments begin with a consultation to assess suitability, medical history, risks and realistic outcomes.
Is CoolSculpting worth it?
CoolSculpting can be worthwhile for the right candidate — someone close to their target weight with discrete, pinchable pockets of fat that resist diet and exercise. Published evidence supports a reduction of around 20 to 25 per cent of the fat in a treated pocket in suitable patients, with results developing over 8 to 12 weeks. It is not a weight-loss treatment, and value depends heavily on honest candidate selection, the number of cycles needed and being treated in a clinically governed setting that can recognise and manage rare complications. Outcomes vary by individual and are best assessed in consultation.
Book a consultationWhen this may help
- You are close to your target weight with localised, pinchable fat that has not responded to diet and exercise.
- You want non-surgical contouring and understand results build gradually rather than instantly.
- You value being assessed honestly, including being told if you are unlikely to benefit.
When this may not be suitable
- Your main concern is overall weight rather than a discrete fat pocket — CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss treatment.
- You want a guaranteed amount of fat reduction or a same-day result.
- You have a cold-sensitivity condition or another contraindication to cryolipolysis.
Risks and limitations
- Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, numbness and tenderness in the treated area are common.
- Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) is a rare complication where the treated area enlarges rather than reduces.
- Paying for cycles that are unlikely to deliver your goal is a real cost risk if candidate selection is poor.
What we assess in consultation
- Whether your fat is suitable for cryolipolysis or whether another approach is more predictable
- How many cycles and areas would realistically be needed, and the total cost
- Medical history, cold-sensitivity conditions and other contraindications
- Honest discussion of expected results, limitations and the rare risk of PAH

How much fat does CoolSculpting remove?
Published evidence supports a reduction of around 20 to 25 per cent of the fat in a treated pocket in suitable candidates. It contours a discrete area rather than reducing overall body weight, and individual results vary.
Is CoolSculpting better value than liposuction?
They are different. CoolSculpting is non-surgical with minimal downtime but more modest, gradual change; liposuction is surgical with more dramatic results and a recovery period. The right choice depends on your anatomy and goals, which we assess in consultation.
Why does clinical oversight matter for value?
A clinic with medical oversight can decline patients who are unlikely to benefit and can recognise rare complications such as PAH early. At Berkshire Aesthetics, CoolSculpting is overseen by Dr Selena Langdon, a CoolSculpting Complications Expert, rather than delivered as a non-medical service.
