Emsculpt Neo vs Emtone

Muscle toning and fat reduction vs cellulite treatment — which is right for your body goals?

Book Consultation

Emsculpt Neo and Emtone are both non-invasive body treatments from BTL Aesthetics, but they address very different concerns. Emsculpt Neo combines HIFEM (high-intensity focused electromagnetic) energy with radiofrequency to simultaneously build muscle and reduce fat. Emtone combines radiofrequency with targeted pressure energy to treat cellulite at its source. Choosing between them depends entirely on whether your primary goal is body contouring or cellulite reduction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you combine Emsculpt Neo and Emtone?

Yes. Many patients benefit from combining both treatments as they target different concerns. Emsculpt Neo builds muscle and reduces fat while Emtone addresses cellulite and skin texture. Dr Langdon can advise on the best sequence and timing during your consultation.

Which is better for cellulite?

Emtone is specifically designed for cellulite reduction. It targets the key structural causes of cellulite — including fibrous septae, enlarged fat chambers, loss of elasticity, and poor blood flow. Emsculpt Neo does not directly treat cellulite, although improved muscle tone can sometimes improve the overall appearance of the area.

Which is better for my tummy?

If your concern is abdominal fat and weak core muscles, Emsculpt Neo is the appropriate choice. It can build abdominal muscle equivalent to thousands of contractions per session while simultaneously reducing fat in the area. Emtone is not typically used for the abdomen as cellulite is less common in this area.

How many sessions of each treatment are needed?

Emsculpt Neo typically requires a course of four sessions completed over two weeks for optimal results. Emtone also involves four sessions, usually scheduled weekly. Both treatments produce progressive results that continue to develop over two to three months after completing the course.

Is either treatment painful?

Neither treatment is painful. Emsculpt Neo produces intense but tolerable muscle contractions combined with a warming sensation from the radiofrequency. Emtone feels like a warm deep-tissue massage with a gentle tapping sensation. Both are well tolerated and require no anaesthesia.
