How does it work?
The StimSure applicators generate an electromagnetic field that stimulates the motor neuron cells of the body’s muscles, causing the muscle to contract as it would during movement or exercise. A prolonged contraction, made by a series of individual twitch contractions back to back, creates a ‘maximal tetanic contraction’ that results in more efficient growth of muscle fibers.
Neural Muscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) has been used for many years in physiotherapy and is used in recovery as well as by elite athletes who seek to gain increases in muscle performance.
StimSure uses 1.0 Tesla per applicator, providing an electromagnetic field that can engage the entire target muscle group. The device is similar to other technologies (including Emsculpt from BTL) but has three key differences:
Fully customisable treatment programmes
The StimSure device allows for fully customisable treatment programmes - this means targeted, bespoke treatment plans which can help treat underlying medical conditions while building, shaping and toning muscles. StimSure has four pre-set programs which are a great way to engage with the device and learn how the patient will respond to the treatment. We have learned from Profession Heiko Van Vliet's (International Rehabilitation and Training NMES Expert & Professor of the University of Lausanne) experience and knowledge shows that rarely what works for one person works for another.
Therefore the ability and the ability to create personalized programs on StimSure means we can develop a bespoke treatment plan which is exactly right for our patients.
40% longer muscle contractions
Building muscle requires a combination of both the number of contractions but also the length of the contraction. the StimSure allows for contractions which are 40% longer.
The frequency (in hertz) enables the muscles to be stimulated in a number of ways and will achieve different results. Depending on the patient, their fitness levels and desired outcomes the hertz can be adjusted to suit these. For longer-term treatment plans the hertz might, for example, be increased to match the improvement in the patient's muscle condition.
How many treatments do I need?
For patients who are in good physical shape and undertake regular exercise, we might suggest a court of 6 to 8 treatments every 4 days. However, every person is unique and in order to achieve your personal goals, a consultation will be required to assess your fitness levels, expectations, lifestyle and how best StimSure can help you to achieve your intended outcomes. Our doctor will design a bespoke programme which will help you to live life with better form and improved function.
